POWER-GEN Europe, Renewable Energy World Europe, and Nuclear Power Europe 2011 Achieve Record Visitor Numbers

Fiera Milano City, Milan, June 9th, 2011 – The nineteenth POWER-GEN Europe Conference and Exhibition, co-located with Nuclear Power Europe and Renewable Energy World Europe, closed today having experienced a record number 14,917 attendees across the three events over three days..

Show highlights included opening keynote speeches from Gianfilippo Mancini, director of Enel’s Generation and Energy Management Division & Energy Management Division, Paul Browning president and CEO of GE Energy’s Thermal Products and Giuseppe Zampini CEO of Anslado Energia.  All three speakers provided a clear picture that the European power sector is changing and it is changing fast.

An excellent plenary panel debate hosted by leading international journalist and broadcaster Stephen Sackur, exploring whether the power industry can deliver on European policy targets, was another highpoint. The debate was streamed live on the internet allowing a global audience to participate, with questions coming from as far afield as Singapore, South Africa and Australia.

This year’s event has taken place against the backdrop of a highly fluid outlook for every sector in the power industry, as Stephen Sakur stated on the show’s video daily, “The plenary session highlighted a measure of potential uncertainty.  It’s where technology and politics overlap that you get the most interesting debate...There is a degree of uncertainty about the investment climate, about the political climate and how realistic the European energy targets are.”

Conference Director, Nigel Blackaby is delighted with the success of this year’s show, “The high number of attendees across all three events is a reflection of the industry’s eagerness to discover the latest developments in business, technology and policy at a moment of such rapid change for power generation. It’s an exciting time to be working in such an innovative industry and it has been great to see professionals from every sector of the power sector come together to discuss the challenges that they face and how they can work together to meet these.”

We bid Milan a fond "Arrivederci" and thank our exhibitors, visitors, delegates and speakers for their continued support of our events. For 2012 we are proud to say"Willkommen in Köln" when POWER-GEN Europe and its co-located events stage at the KoelnMesse, Cologne, Germany on 12 - 14 June 2012.
